Anonymous ask reading "Ahhhh that's so cool because I've only just got into Phantom of the Paradise!! Life at last gives me Substitute vibes idk why. If you're serious(ish) about the drawing, please may you draw the Professor auditioning new guest puppets for the show ((basically puppets from an event in history you'd want to see on the show))"ALT

sorry i had to drop EVERYTHING to draw this because i've had this puppet idea for like Ever.

i KNOW we've got a lot of france eps already, but i really. really. want an episode on the history of the guillotine. her rise and fall. did you know they were only banned in 80's?

anyway, thinking about a guillotine puppet made me imagine a mouth that's pulled rather than worked with the hand inside- i also would love to see an episode of puppet history with a guest singer who's actually a professional, and preferably a lady. so the idea that struck me was a washed-up opera singer guillotine whose 'mouth' blade slides up and down as she sings these RIDICULOUS high notes, and the whole time you're just Waiting for it to clap down and behead the little person doll in the stocks.

she hears people saying stuff like 'bring back the guillotine' and thinks it's her fans wanting her to make a comeback. they Do, but not for the singing thing. for the uh. the killing thing. and she'll do the killing thing! but she prefers to sing. big inspo for her was carlotta from phantom of the opera

thanks so much for this ask btw, and i gotta agree: Life at Last is VERY substitutecore, i thought the exact same thing when i was listening. just dial back the horny and dial Up the violence and it would be perfect.

@wearewatcher please bring me on for PH i promise i will make the magic happen
